A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the country's largest city Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a nation grappling with rampant crime.

Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the central business district on a Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the forty-year-old entertainer was accosted by three individuals, one of whom began shooting at him before fleeing on foot.
