Vince Gilligan Discloses He Knows How The Apple TV+ Show Will End... Currently.

The acclaimed writer-producer did not foresee that the Apple TV+ show would emerge as a breakout success. “God bless the fans,” he remarks. “I was surprised by the show being as passionately debated as it is, and it makes me thrilled beyond words.”

As the debut season of the hit sci-fi show wrapping up—and Season 2 already in development—the creative team recently discussed the fan response and whether it will shape the future direction of Pluribus.

About the Overwhelming Audience Reaction

One could easily to get swayed by the widespread acclaim and audience predictions surrounding Pluribus. The creator is making a conscious effort to ignore the noise.

“It's like being constantly eating your favorite dessert and being laughing uncontrollably,” he says. “It's amazing, but I hear about it through word of mouth, and that's intentional. Never in my life Googled myself, nor do I ever want to. It's quite the opposite. It's a bottomless pit I know I would get lost in and then I'd be never leaving the house from the hardware store and I'd never leave my living room.”

Despite his concerted efforts, there’s no escaping the extremely enthusiastic response to the series. The only approach for the writers is to take it in stride and try not to let it influence the direction of the show.

“It is not our goal to change the plot,” says writer and executive producer Alison Tatlock. “The narrative we craft is not influenced by what people are saying.”

“We prefer to keep our focus on the work,” Gilligan concludes.

The Big Question: Has the showrunner Know the Conclusion of Pluribus?

Given that the creative staff are not listening by public opinion, does it imply they have already decided how Pluribus will finally conclude? The answer is yes… sort of.

“We have some interesting ideas about where the show might end up,” he states. “yet we stand ready to abandon a solid concept for a more brilliant plan. That has held us in well on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We change course when we conceive of something superior and I suspect we'll be doing that.”

Alternatively, if plans fall through, director and writer Gordon Smith has a humorous idea to use as a backup.

“I keep pitching that the entire story is inside a snow globe, and that we'll reveal the snow globe and that's where they've been all along,” he says humorously, “but nobody's taking me up on that.”

Then again, one could always use the classics?

“My dream is Carol to wake up in bed next to Bob Newhart,” he jokes.

Pluribus is streaming now on the streaming service.
